Kentucky 31 is a long-established tall fescue chosen for its reliable seed establishment and persistence in pastures and lawns. It is a light-green, coarse-bladed grass — not as fine as premium turf types—and it is the most common fescue in the area because it grows well here. For that reason, we plant more acres with it than with any other grass seed in our region.
It does carry endophytes, which can be a problem for livestock but help the plant persist. It works best for turf, rough areas, and low-maintenance cover rather than as the sole forage in pasture.
