Oats are a nutritious feed for all classes of livestock and wildlife as they are high in protein, vitamins and minerals. The oat plant, like wheat, is an annual grass that is great for grazing for livestock, cover crops, hay production, and windbreaks. Common varieties of Oats are Coker, Simpson, Jerry, Bob and Harrison to name a few. We select varieties suited for our climate that are high yielding, crown rust, mildew and mosaic resistant that grow to a medium height. All oats are great forage producing varieties for livestock and wildlife during the cool season. Oats should be planted on well prepared plowed ground for best results. These are not GMO and no inoculant is needed. Plant 50-100 pounds per acre at 1/4" seeding depth. Plant in spring or fall. Will germinate in 5-7 days under optimal condtions. Can be used for erosion control as well as feed for livestock and wildlife. Ask about pricing per pound.
